Request for Raffle and Bid Donations

Dear Union Sisters and Brothers,

Tickets are on sale for the May 9th celebration, i.e. Distinguished Union Member and Scholarship Banquet. (I will be in my office from 2p.m. to 5p.m. today and tomorrow 12:30p.m. to 5p.m. in room 629. Brandy is also selling tickets; she will be on the first or fourth floor main computer lab towards the back advising students.) I can also reserve a ticket for you; however, you must attend or give the ticket to another member, as we are limited in space this year.

We need help in the following areas:

(1) Collection of donations for the scholarship. Floor reps or helpers, if you are taking a donation, please write down the name of the individual contributing money and give me or Mary Levenson the name, so she can write a receipt. If members are writing a check, they should make them payable to H.W.C. Local 1600 and write scholarship donation in the check’s memo line.

(2 ) Prize donations for raffles and bids. We will raffle just about anything new or gently used donations (in fact, we have never refused a raffle item, ever) such as: gift cards, books, scarves, picture frames, mugs, event tickets, old Christmas gifts, old Easter gifts, art work, wine, wine, wine, etc. There will be no corking fee this year.

This Friday, I will also be auctioning items to raise money for the Noel Merriam Scholarship, which is nearly out of funds. The Merriams will no longer be contributing to this scholarship, so we need to raise funds to continue it. English, Speech, and Theatre faculty, since we select the winner for this scholarship, I hope you will contribute a nice item for the bid. I am putting together some baskets, but I say any item worth $30 or more is fair game.

If you are bringing a bid item to the event, let me know by Thursday evening, so I can create a form for your donation.

Feel free to text or call me.
