Union Meeting Today and Pension Educational!

Dear Union Sisters and Brothers,

First of all, if I haven’t talked to you in the halls, Happy New Year!

Welcome back from the snow days!

This post is another friendly reminder about our Union meeting today at Harold Washington College. Please, help spread the word; I put the flyers out last week, but the snow days may impede people remembering about the meeting. I will write a newsletter after the talk and distribute that next week and distribute the minutes as well.

When: Thursday, January 30, 2014, 2:00p.m.-3:30p.m.

Where: Room 1115

Also, Antonio Vazquez, a SURS trustee, and Union brother from another campus will be coming to discuss the pension crisis from 2:45 to 3:30p.m. I hope many of you can attend this meeting because many of you have questions about this situation and what better than a pro-pension SURS trustee who is on our side to address the issue honestly and openly?

You will also notice that I shortened the meeting times this semester; that was because the faculty members who responded to our past survey indicated that the meetings were too long. Just keep in mind that a good chunk of that time was spent really discussing issues and/or having a Contract or Union educational, so the format of the meetings will change. I will have our secretary survey the faculty again to get a pulse on the new format.

In Solidarity,

Jesú Estrada, Ph.D.
H.W.C./District Chapter Chair
